i've recently been peppered by "so why havent you get a smartphone already?"
truth is i can get a smartphone whenever i want,
in fact if i really want one, i can get it at the next sunrise!
and i am really tempted to..

until i look at my current phone,
one simple but fully functional phone.
and with that,
i inadvertently wanders into my inbox..
and i stare at the blank screen,
once filled with so much messages that dwarfs the national library,
is now a barren land, desolated by memories.

with that, i subdue my temptation of getting a smartphone.
as there really isnt a need for me.

the said smartphone would be a glorified paperweight,
a nest for worry,
worry if the phone is scratched,
worry if the phone is dropped,
worry if the phone is misplaced,
worry if the phone is lost...

a new year that hopefully brings new adventures, new challenges, new hopes and a new chapter!
it will be the first year as far as i can remember where i do not need to worry about studies anymore, but rather focus on the path ahead, WORK!
starting off with the Work and Travel programme to Florida, USA :D

one of kenny chong's biggest fear was to stay forever alone until the end of time. by the looks of it, end of time was likely 1 years time as the world seems to be coming to an end in 2012 anyways.

for that reason, he started dating around the asian american community. he was quite the casanova with 4 girls under his belt within the first year. he had his first 3 week fling with a girl named ju li, who left him because he took his pants off and nothing was there. his was with his second girlfriend for over 4 months, before he found out that she was actually a he, and he was actually underage. depressed, but not daunted, he continue his love voyage with another girl named tiffany, who he lost his virginity to. boy, did tiffany moaned hard that night, she moaned and moaned and moaned somemore, wondering if it was in yet. his final relationship came in september of 2012. but he wasn't even quiet sure if it was a relationship or not, as he had to pay $5.95 per minute to talk to her.

after 4 failed relationship, he swore off dating and focused on his studies as an aeronautical engineer. after much pain and sweat, he graduated top of his class of 3 people. he ended up working with nasa for the next 5 years as the receptionist before finally climbing up the ladder into chief telephonist.

his career at nasa ended and he flew back to malaysia. he then pursue a career as a professional photographer, and admittedly, he was fairly good with it. he spends the next 15 years taking photographs and eventually became the chief photographer for FHM malaysia, specializing in bikini-clad models. by the age of 40, he was one of the most sought after-photographer in the asian region, often travelling between countries for photoshoots.

he went through mid-life crisis, and gave up entirely on model photographing, and decided to take photos of children. he was last seen taking photo of a boy's underwear advertisement, with his assistant overheard him saying "wad a cute boy...".

so what became of his love life you ask? well, he continued having flings of strictly 3 weeks with girls he met during his photoshooting days. he tried dating seriously but it was not the thing for him. eventually he settled down at the age of 55 in a remote cabin by the beach, with a pet owl from the mythical world of ga'hoole.

after much hardwork and determination, ching wern finally graduated from the university of strathclyde in july of 2012. she then return to malaysia and started work as a fully qualified pharmacist.

several weeks after she return to malaysia, wern eventually dated alex, a marketing graduate from monash, ending her almost-forever-alone streak. their relationship was brief but diabetically sweet. they dated for 1 and a half years before breaking up, citing irreconsilable differences due to their often long distance relationship.

she continued her undying passion for dota after graduation. she was eventually recruited by Team Pandora's Might Soldier (PMS), to be part of the female team to take on the 2013 dota 2 tournament. her pretty look gathered her many male fans, with many dubbing her the nickname "princess dota tart" because of her signature of eating a strawberry chocolate tart while competing professionally. she balanced her work life of being a pharmacist and a part-time professional dota player. she left team PMS a year later.

dota also became an unlikely source of dating potential for wern. she dated former korean dota competitor park yoon hwa.

wern's pharmaceutical career was not entirely smooth. having worked in the dispensary of several private hospital, she realise could not progress any further as a pharmacist. it was a depressing period for wern as she resigned as a pharmacist after working for 4 years.

she took a few months off after quitting her job as part of a soul searching trip, eventually garnering inspiration from her love of baking, nutella, ben&jerrys and churros. it came as an eureka moment while surfing tumblr, that she could open a small patteserie that specializes in selling nutella based pastries. business began slow but picked up speed and popularity. it is now one of the largest chain patteserie in asia, with over 320 outlets accross 11 countries.

not surprisingly, wern became the model face of nutella due to her commitment and passion for the chocolatey goodness. she was also one of the pioneers of creating the infamous nutella facial cream, that is now a must-use by all teenage girls.

untrue to most popular beliefs, wern was never completely happy with park. on the night before of her marriage with park, ex-boyfriend alex made a final effort to let her know how how he felt for her. and she too had been waiting for him. they eloped with each other and was last seen spending some quiet time in the switzerland alps.

as i was driving back from my futsal game, thoughts crossed my mind.
i spent the 20minute drive home wondering if i could have changed the past, exactly 24 hours ago.
perhaps i had taken a more active approach rather than passive one?
or maybe pushing my ego aside a little more?
then i wonder again, why am i asking myself question like these?
and then it struck me, my mind flashed back, mental picture forming..
the sight of you crying broke my heart.
i saw a little bit of myself there, many years ago,
when faltering friendship made me question the genuineness of trusting someone.
history repeating itself and i'm on the receiving end.

so then could i have done anything differently?
perhaps not, because assumptions were in the way.
but as far as it went (damn it went too far),
i was glad everything turned out well (24hour ban lifted!)
and i'm glad to get my friend back. i really am.

all in all a great weekend, aside from a starless saturday evening.
but i shall fix that, for my life would be incomplete without a star-filled saturday evening =)
not to mention a lack of caramelized popcorn,
and i shall be more weary if any broken mugs cross my path again.

i went to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 earlier this evening.
knowing that this is last of the harry potter franchise adds a bit of sadness to the anticipation of watching the movie.

i'm not going to write a review of the movie, you'll just have to watch it yourself.

then what is this post about?

its about growing up. it's about saying farewell to a friend.
Harry Potter series was a series i've grown up with.
10 years ago i first set eyes on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone on the big screen. Little did i know that it would eventually engulf my life over the next 10 years. i was only 12 years old then, finishing my primary school.

and over the course of the next few years, it was about waiting for the next harry potter movie.
sadly, i did not catch up to the book series as early as i should. for i only started reading after the 4th movie came out. but i'm glad to have been both movie goer-reader and reader-movie goer. for it gave me kinda the best of both worlds because readers hate movies (since it cannot envelope the book we came to love).

as the 8th movie rolled on, it was clear that the 10 year streak was coming to an end. we mature with the characters, watched them grow, we dwell in the magical world of harry potter, casting imaginary spells along the way, secretly hoping biology class was herbology, wishing how when your 13th, 14th or even 15th birthday came, an owl would come delivering a letter, opening you to a world you once thought unreal.

haha, i'm 22 now. in my final semester of studies.
on the verge of graduating and participating in the rat race.
earlier this evening, i witness the end of the harry potter series.
i have accepted that all good things must come to an end. as much as the magical world was an escape from the real world, work, studies, responsibility awaits!

my letter bearing owl never did came and probably never will.
and so life goes on, but it does not mean that we have to forget what we've come to enjoy.

Why? cuz my team, Team Inception scored a massive 95% for our assignment which was 17% ahead of 2nd place.

If she was presented with this opportunity before these she would have ravish it without second thoughts. Grab it with both of her hands and never let it go until she was bored with it but that was a lifetime ago. A time where she had been the old her ; the old her which had hurt many people along the way because of her selfish need and because of her fear of being alone.

But she had learnt from her mistake, taking this opportunity will not make her happy, it just satiate her fear momentarily till the cold hard truth slammed her hard again, or, frankly speaking till her attention span was soaked with enough to last her for some time then she would go and break another heart in the same old way.

She is tired of going around doing things that she will definitely regret later on but she was so afraid that she wouldn’t find that someone who would take her breath away. She is terrified that what if she has mistaken affection from friendliness? What if she had just wanted someone and not anyone in particular? What if she was to break his heart and ruin the friendship in between?

And the biggest what if of all if she was to open her heart for real and risk being wounded again by the same old reason? With so much at risk, she decided she would pretend that nothing had tugged her heart in the first place. That what happened that day was just being in the right place at the right time.

Nothing more and nothing less from a pure and sincere friendship.

There was this guy who believed very much in true love and decided to take his time to wait for his right girl to appear. He believed that there would definitely be someone special out there for him, but none came.

Every year at Christmas, his ex-girlfriend would return from Vancouver to look him up. He was aware that she still held some hope of re-kindling the past romance with him. He did not wish to mislead her in any way. So he would always get one of his girl friends to pose as his steady whenever she came back. That went on for several years and each year, the guy would get a different girl to pose as his romantic interest. So whenever the ex-girlfriend came to visit him, she would be led into believing that it was all over between her and the guy. The girl took all those rather well, often trying to casually tease him about his different girlfriends, or so, as it seemed! In fact, the girl often wept in secret whenever she saw him with another girl, but she was too proud to admit it. Still, every Christmas, she returned, hoping to re-kindle some form of romance. But each time, she returned to Vancouver feeling disappointed.

Finally she decided that she could not play that game any longer. Therefore, she confronted him and professed that after all those years, he was still the only man that she had ever loved. Although the guy knew of her feelings for him, he was still taken back and have never expected her to react that way. He always thought that she would slowly forget about him over time and come to terms that it was all over between them. Although he was touched by her undying love for him and wanted so much to accept her again, he remembered why he rejected her in the first place-she was not the one he wanted. So he hardened his heart and turned her down cruelly. Since then, three years have passed and the girl never return anymore. They never even wrote to each other. The guy went on with his life..... still searching for the one but somehow deep inside him, he missed the girl.

On the Christmas of 1995, he went to his friend's party alone. "Hey, how come all alone this year? Where are all your girlfriends? What happened to that Vancouver babe who joins you every Christmas?", asked one of his friend. He felt warm and comforted by his friend's queries about her, still he just surged on.

Then, he came upon one of his many girlfriends whom he once requested to pose as his steady. He wanted so much to ignore her ..... not that he was impolite, but because at that moment, he just didn't feel comfortable with those girlfriends anymore. It was almost like he was being judged by them. The girl saw him and shouted across the floor for him. Unable to avoid her, he went up to acknowledge her.

"Hi......how are you? Enjoying the party?" the girl asked.

"Sure.....yeah!", he replied.She was slightly tipsy..... must be from the whiskey on her hand. She continued,

"Why...? Don't you need someone to pose as your girlfriend this year?"

Then he answered, "No, there is no need for that anymore......"

Before he can continue, he was interrupted, "Oh yes! Must have found a girlfriend! You haven't been searching for one for the past years, right?" The man looked up, as if he has struck gold, his face beamed and looked directly at the drunken girl. He replied, "Yes......you are right! I haven't been looking for anyone for the past years."

With that, the man darted across the floor and out the door, leaving the lady in much bewilderment. He finally realized that he has already found his dream girl, and she was.....the Vancouver girl all along! The drunken lady has said something that awoken him.

All along he has found his girl. That was why he did not bother to look further when he realized she was not coming back. It was not any specific girl he was seeking! It was perfection that he wanted, and yes.....perfection!!

Relationship is something both parties should work on. Realizing that he had let away someone so important in his life, he decided to call her immediately. His whole mind was flooded with fear. He was afraid that she might have found someone new or no longer had the same feelings anymore..... For once, he felt the fear of losing someone.

As it was Christmas eve, the line was quite hard to get through, especially an overseas call. He tried again and again, never giving up.

Nothing.

At that moment the world swirled around him and there was nothing he can do about it. Except...

Maybe if he boarded the next flight to Vancouver. Yes, that might work.

Filled with the determination that he never knew he had, he traded his prized possession, a limited Harley Davison jacket, to a hippie at the airport for a one-way ticket to Vancouver. He had no idea what he was going to do next, nor did he know where she lived. All he had was an old photograph she sent him many years ago that he kept in the wallet. If somehow, someway, he could find where the photo was taken, he might just find the love of his life. His odds weren’t good. The only things fuelling him was the hope and believe that if true love was meant to be, he would find Jane with his heart.

Untrue to most Hollywood fashion, he never found the girl in Vancouver. After searching for three days, he had ran out of cash and out of ideas. It was finally time to go home. He never saw her after that whole incident, but he never forgot how love came so close to his grasp, when all he ever wanted was staring him in the face, and he did nothing.

It was getting cold and distant sound of aircrafts taking off brought back memories of the time she stood at this particular airport that had given her a certain sense of hope. Jane picked up her phone and looked at the familiar face that was on the wallpaper. At that moment, Jane knew that she had made the right decision. To move on would mean that she had to put these feelings behind her. It had been exactly 3 years ago, if he had wanted her back, he would have come running for her, but he didn’t. In what was her last tie to the world she had known, Jane dropped her phone into the recycling bin in a final attempt to rid of all memories related to him. She picked up her passport and her air ticket to New Zealand. Place everything neatly into her handbag and walked towards the check in counter. Jane walked across the boarding bridge and the first step into her new life.

As Flight NZ131 destined for New Zealand was taking off, a phone lit up in the weirdest location possible, a recycling bin. Janitor Jim was listening to his headphones when he cleared the bins around the airport, at the same time grudging that he had to work on Christmas Eve. Things might have still worked out for Jane and the guy, had it not been the final twist in this tragic love story. The ringing phone dropped into a cup of unfinished Coke in Janitor Jim’s waste basket, and with that came an end to an almost love story.

twin headed dragon is one of my new love!
good nuker and high hp tanker, slow but good supporter!

luna moonfang is the only carry hero i can play..
used to be my best hero until i started playing against pros, not pubs

and last but not least, ENCHANTRESS!
strong neutral which helps her gank easily,
nearly untouchable by most carry heroes,
ability to heal fast is superb,
and the impetus deals massive damage throughout the game..

讲真的，我已经很久没有用华语来表达我心里想要说的话了。。
刚开始时总是觉得有一点点怪怪，可是一旦开始写时却觉得有一种熟悉和温暖的心情。。

不管怎么说，有些事情是要用华语才能表达的出它真正的意识。例如，用英文说＂i miss you＂或用华语说＂我想念你＂。虽然两句话的表面意识是一样的，可是我终觉得用华语会把对方和自己拉的比较亲密。也有可能自己是个华人才会着样说吧？

或许是听了太多伤心，心动的华语歌，而自己也能明白唱歌人的心，所以才会觉得用华语能够表达的出我的心？

A Quick Review on
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

being a little fanboy that i am, i couldnt help but to camp in front of my comp, waiting for Golden Screen Cinemas to open up their online sales of the movie tickets. manage to get day 2 tickets on the 19th :D

So anyway, prior to going to the cinema, i spent the past couple of days reading the book, thinking to myself "hey, i think its always better to read the book first then watch the movie.."
Oh man was i wrong. Through out the entire movie, i knew what was going to happen, the anticipation of what happened i think, kinda drowned out the movie for me but regardless i have to say it was quite good.

Review :

i personally thought it was good to have 2 parts mainly because there are so many details that a 2 hour movie would not do justice to a great book. in Part 1, it's almost 90% similar to the book, except certain details here and there, overall it stayed true to the book. Which on the other hand would mean the lack of climax. The Battle of Hogwarts (and other action packed scenes) are mostly in Part 2. So part 1 became more of a teaser and a platform to eventually lead viewers to part 2.

Ok, back to part 1. It's got a couple of jokes and puns carried from the book and alot many others they make you laugh here and there. But one of the missing main course of the film is the lack of hogwarts. I think we all have gotten used to the robes and the castles in the previous 6 movies so it was pretty unusual to see only landscapes and forestry. We also dont get to see many other characters as the entire part 1 was about harry ron and hermione. Nothing outstanding to mention, however there was an awkward dance scene little over half way through, awkward indeed.....lol...

Overall an ok movie, a solid 6/10 i have to say. for all book 7 fans i'm pretty sure you wont be disappointed! with that said, i cant wait for Part 2 which is coming out in June 2011! =D

PS: please do not read the book (again) before watching. it really, really spoils the movie for you......

circumstances in my life depicts that to me, its no longer one
nor does it feel like one..

what do you do? you go, away, far far away, as far as situation allows..

right now, i have exams to worry about. exam which ends in a weeks time.
for now i'll focus on the 2 paper first,
it wouldnt be nice to have one pile of shit affect another pile eh?
well, after that i dont know what i'll do.
maybe finally go find the job i've been thinking (juicer at juiceworks =P)
as for lodging, i think i'll stick here for a while..
not that i can do anything about that yet..

then again for the first time in my life i dont know where the road is ahead of me..
lets hope it leads somewhere..

Last year, a friend i knew in high school passed away.
after that u can see how much people love him.

everyone had a memory to share,

i think its a mistake we all do.

take my grandma for instance. i spent too much time in school activities that year and din't visit my hometown often enough. after she left, i suddenly realise all i had left was memories of her. maybe a couple of old photos..... and yes, i still cry thinking about it sometimes..

the term "giving up" has been hovering around me for a while now..
for the past few years i've been running away from many things,
until early last year where i met a person who taught me that everything,
regardless how bad it may seem, does have a rainbow's end.
for a while, i din have to runaway. i had someone else to fight along side me,
not crumbling, was strength alright. temporary strength...

after she left, things went from bad to worst.
i start fleeting back to where i was. i began running, again.
even until now, no matter how much i try, i cant shake that mentality away..

i have new comrades now, but the battlefield has changed.
a different battle, a different retreat strategy..
all i can do, is hope for the best.
and fight, as much as i can.
and hope, to fall a little closer to home..
